My dad was in the music business before I was born, and somehow it got a grip on me too. After writing my first few songs, I got a record deal with Twisted Nerve Records (Badly Drawn Boy) and moved to Manchester, where I did an MA in Creative Writing and worked as an arts writer at The Big Issue in the North. I released Nice Girls (Twisted Nerve) by my then-alias, Luma Lane, and True Adventures Happen Inside Your Head (Hungry Audio) under my regular name.

At some point I have been shortlisted for The Bridport Prize and The Brighton Prize for short stories. In 2019 I was chosen as an ‘Emerging Writer’ by The London Library.

I’m working on my first novel, about how a man going missing on the first day of snow has tragic consequences for a Finnish mill town.
