My ‘True Adventures Happen Inside Your Head’ album was released on Hungry Audio Records on 3rd November 2008. Hungry Audio put in a lot of unpaid hours into making the release possible – so thank you so much to them.
A lot of the record was recorded in various bedrooms in Manchester and Norwich, and at Tontena Studio in Norfolk, between 2003 and 2006. I have a lot of songs recorded at this time; it wasn’t so much with an album in mind, but more my way of remembering moments, dreams, appointments and ideas. I think I always hoped it would be a communication, eventually. My way of reaching likeminded people through the language I’d unwittingly fashioned. Many songs I didn’t select for True Adventures can be downloaded for free from miavigar.bandcamp.mu, and eventually there will be many more on there, as the vault has barely been dusted.
At the time of writing I am considering making a follow-up record, some of which has been written already. I say ‘considering’, because I am waiting to see how these new songs will fit together. True Adventures was a studio album, which is difficult to tour without a massive band – I have plans to make an album of piano, drums and strings, with quite stark instrumentation, which will be easier to play live and bring to your ears. In my head it’s very cobwebby and creaky, but I am still not sure I won’t go down the electro route. I want at least one of the songs to be dance-floor-friendly. Apparently, recording using computer programmes means you can cut and paste and edit like I’ve never been able to before! I was listening to Cornelius last night, thinking how cool it would be to be able to splice ‘n’ dice, so I may learn how to record via a laptop, instead of a 16-track. Unfortunately my 16-track is on its last legs.
Now I have to go and pick up a mirror and painting from the countryside, but now I have reminded myself how to log in, I shall begin making this website!
